Blog - August 10, 2010

Haven't posted in 4 months. Took a little time off WoW for a while, but started back up about a month ago. Don't play every night, but probably a few times a week. I've finished leveling my Mage to 30 which was a boring process. The Mage is one of my least favorite characters, but I grinded and finally got it done.

Next was my Warlock. I quickly got him up to 30 in Duskwood and the Wetlands. I really enjoyed playing my Warlock. I like the mechanics behind the life drain, life tap and soul drain. If I used those abilities appropriately then there was very little down time.

I guess since I was really enjoying the pet class I went ahead and moved to my Hunter instead of going to my dismall Druid. I'm working in Redridge now with my Hunter and have leveled to 22 so far. Althought he mechanics are different I'm still enjoying the Hunter class. There is very little down time and I can take on quite a few mobs at once.

One other note I would like to mention is I've been reading up on Cataclysm and the changes that will take place. I'm very excited about the additional flight points and the streamlining of the leveling process. It appears that the different zones now are specific to 5 levels instead of some zones overlapping. For example right now I've been following this recipe:
Elwynn Forest
Westfall
Redridge
Duskwood
Wetlands
Stranglethorn

It would be really nice to take out the Wetlands from this equation and I think that is what Cataclysm will do. The Wetlands is just too far away for me. Once I get done with Duskwood, I would like to just go to Stranglethorn. Right now though it's too difficult to go there when I'm about level 27 or 28 after completing Duskwood.

I can't wait for Cataclysm to come out. With the new class/race changes I may restart some of my non-human toons. I believe the Druid is the only one that cannot be Human. For some reason I'm partial to Humans. :)

Weekly Blog - April 12, 2010

Played a little over the weekend and my Mage is still at level 22. Finished all but the hardest quests in Redridge so decided to go over to Loch Modan to get a few more easier quests, but still haven't moved up a level after finishing those. When I go back I'll start playing in Duskwood. My Mage is starting to fall down the ranks of enjoyable characters to play. I think he's at 7 or 8 out of 9 instead of #5. I just can't get down the rotation I suppose. I'm having trouble kiting. My mana is around 1.5k but my hp is only about 500k. It just seems boring. Maybe it will get better in Duskwood, but I think the mobs are going to be much tougher and I'll be doing a lot of dieing in the next week or so on my way to level 30. It's going to be brutal I'm afraid.... I can't wait to play my Warlock.

Daily Blog - April 5, 2010

Played only a little bit over the holiday weekend. Spent most of my time putting together my kids swing set and was too tired in the evenings to do anything but sleep. Before that though I did finish leveling my Warrior to 30 in the Wetlands. I then began to play my Mage who I was able to level to 22 in Redridge so far. I died several times trying to get used to the rotations again. I found out my sheep spell is very useful in multiple mob situations, but I have such low hp. Once I get in trouble I'm screwed. Not sure if I'll be able to play much tonight as I'll probably be working late all week. We'll see.

Daily Blog - April 1, 2010

Played only sparingly last night. Flew over to the Wetlands and was only able to do a couple of quests before I had to call it a night. They were low level quests so didn't do much to get my Warrior much closer to level 30. No work tomorrow, so I should be able to play late tonight and finally make it to 30. Then it's on to my frost Mage.

Happy April fools btw. I liked the jokes on WoW's website. I admit, I got fooled when I read the EPEEN thing. I didn't know what was going on as I wasn't looking at the site last year this time. I was pissed when I read it. I had no problem with the gear score thing at first but then when it got into not being able to talk to people in a higher teir or even see them, that's when I was like WTF! With my low gear scores I figured I'd be all alone. I did a little googling after that and read some message boards that it was a joke so I was relieved. It was pretty funny. I then read the other article about the head gear thing for $15k. It was funny too, but much less believable. One day in the future that is what it's going to be though. Where you totally immerse yourself in a game world. I'm thinking houses will eventually have small game rooms that you stand in with video covering all walls instead of just a helmet though. That would be really cool. Can't wait for that.

Check Point - 3/30/2010

Thought I would post a blog about how I enjoy the different classes. I've played them all (except Death Knight) to at least level 20, which I know isn't that high, but I felt like letting you know how much I liked or disliked the classes during the early stages of the game.

Paladin
The Paladin was my very first roll when I started WoW over a year ago. To tell you the truth I didn't much like the Paladin in the early levels (I think up to 20) because I thought the mechanics (judgement, seals, etc.) was confusing. The whole game was new to me at the time so I think the Paladin was just too challenging for me. That is why I rerolled to something easier, the Rogue, which I will get to next. I also didn't like the fact that I couldn't pull mobs to me because there was no range weapon or spell that I could use.

I then started playing him again to level to 30 and got the Exorcism spell which solved the pull issue. I also began to understand the mechanics of using the Paladin and in fact I really started enjoying the class. I love having a strong spell for pulling in mobs and also being able to melee with the mobs. After the fighting is done, all I have to do is heal myself. A very self sufficient class. Especially since they can also wear heavy armor. Right now this is one of my favorite classes, although if I do end up pulling to many mobs, I tend to die rather quickly. I have to time my heals right.

Rogue
This, I suppose, would be my main character although he's only 4 levels higher than my second alt. I rolled him second because I thought it would be an easier class. I wouldn't say that the rogue is easy to play but it was nice to have something different than the Paladin at the time. I'm not much of a stealth guy as I felt it took to long to move around. But I did use it if I was going up against multiple mobs. I really liked dual wielding and also the poisons. After leveling the Rogue for quite a while though, I got burned out. It seemed like I was doing the same thing over and over again so that's why I rolled again.

Warrior
My 3rd character and he is almost to 30. At first I didn't care too much for the mechanics of the Warrior, but I have learned over the past month to really enjoy it. It is becoming really easy to kill multiple mobs, even if they are higher level than myself. All it is is charge, rend, block, revenge, thunder clap, and so forth. The only bad thing is I have to use bandages quite a bit, but lately that hasn't been the case. I may fight 3 mobs at once and then after they are dispatched I look down at my hp and only about 10-20% is gone. That's basically filled up by the time I get to the next group of mobs. I'm really enjoying my Warrior.

Mage
My Mage is my 4th character and I rolled him because I wanted to try out the true caster class which I rarely do when playing rpg games for some reason. I haven't played my mage in several months as he is next on my list to level to 30 once the Warrior is done. But, I think I remember enjoying the mechanics behind the mage. I would frost the mobs and then hit them with spells until they were dead. Created my own food and water so didn't take long to recoup between fights. I look forward to getting back to my Mage this week (maybe tonight even).

Warlock
For my fifth character I wanted to try out a pet class. I was really wanting to stay human as I knew the starting area better so I went with the Warlock instead of the Hunter. My warlock is at 23 right now and I actually really enjoy playing this class as well. The Void Walker as the tank is very nice. It makes it pretty simple to level with the Warlock. It is difficult sometimes to manage the Void Walker and make sure he doesn't pick up too many mobs. Although when this happens you can simply start high tailing it away, because once a couple of mobs focus on you, you're in big trouble with only cloth armor. I can't wait to get back to this class as well.

Druid
For my sixth character I decided I wanted some new scenery so I went with the Night Elf Druid. Ugh. This is my least favorite character. I've already played a Mage which is basically what the Druid is in regular form, just a lot less powerful. I had already played the Warrior, which is the bear form, but with a lot less options. I just got the cat form at level 20, or maybe I have to do some quest for it first, not sure, but since I have already played the Rogue it seems like it would pretty much be the same but with less options, like bear form was. Maybe it will be better, I'm not sure. I tried to play the Druid in Bear form but it was so darn boring. I thought regular form was at least a little interesting, but unfortunatly I died a lot because my spells were not that powerful. I know a lot of people like the Druid but I just haven't found anything to like yet. Hopefully it gets better, but I'm not looking forward to leveling him to 30 when the time comes around.

Priest
After the Druid I wanted to come back to the Human lands so I rolled a Priest for my seventh character. I didn't think I would like the Priest much so that is why he's my last human character. Something about healing didn't excite me too much. But when I started playing I actually grew to enjoy it. It was nice to hit mobs and be able to have some powerful heals to keep you alive. The only problem was the mana drain. I have to stack up a lot of juices and take breaks between fights. He's at level 20 right now so I look forward to seeing how he does on the way to 30 in the next couple of months.

Shaman
The next character I was just trying to get one of the last classes in. So number eight was the Shaman. I wasn't too excited about using totems and even after leveling to 20, I'm still not that excited about them. They're ok I suppose but they annoying as well. I suppose the good thing about the Shaman is that he can survive since he's not too squishy like other caster classes. The Shaman never really excited me that much.

Hunter
The final character (since I don't have a DK yet) was my Hunter. Not sure why I left him for last, mostly because I couldn't get a Human Hunter. I wish I didn't wait so long though, because I really enjoyed leveling my hunter to 20. Much like the Warlock, it's great to have a tank out there while you sit back and shot your gun or bow and arrow. It's really simple to play the Hunter and leveling is a breeze. I can't wait to get back to him.

In order, this is how I would rank the classes (from worse to best):
9. Druid
8. Shaman
7. Rogue
6. Priest
5. Mage
4. Warlock
3. Warrior
2. Hunter
1. Paladin

So I suppose Paladin wins out so far, but it may just be because I've just played him recently. We'll see if my feeling change in my next check point blog.

Weekly Blog - March 29, 2010

Played some over the weekend with my Protection Warrior, Dotsmadathre. I'm up to level 28 now. Getting pretty easy to kill things using my sword and board routine. Just revenge everything and they quickly die. Starting to get better equipment as well with the quests I've been completing. I'm still in Duskwood. I was able to kill the Mor Ladim (or however you spell it) that is in the graveyard. He's a level 30 elite and I killed him by myself, I think at level 28. Still had plenty of hp left too. Didn't need any healing potions either. Comparing my warrior with my paladin I think I still prefer the Paladin. I really like to be able to heal myself. Hopefully I'll be able to level my Warrior up to 30 this week and then start on my Mage. I've been playing these heavy armor classes for a while now. It will be interesting to mix it up a bit with some squishy magic users.

Daily Blog - March 22, 2010

Went back to the Fizzcrank realm over the weekend and played my Warrior some last night. Got him up to level 26 in Duskwood. I bought a new Dell desktop computer so I could have it hooked up to my 120" projector. It is so much better looking than when I had my laptop connected to it. First of all I can connect it directly to my receiver using an hdmi cable instead of the standard monitor cable. Then the computer itself, of course, is much better. It has a pentium i7 processor, which I believe is a quad core?? Don't know much about computers but all I know is that I was able to move all of the sliders for video and audio to max and the game still played amazingly at I believe the highest fps which is 60. The grass and plants no longer look like blobs and there are so many more shadows than before. The sound is also great. The picture doesn't do it justice as I took it with my phone, but you can get an idea of how big my screen is. I'll continue playing tonight if I have time so I can get my Warrior up to 30. Then I think my Mage is next to level to 30.

Daily Blog - December 21, 2009

I played over the weekend and was able to get my Mage's first aid to 225 and update his armor. I will need to make sure I have all the necessary potions and whatnot to start my journey to lvl 20. I also went ahead and leveled my sword, hand-to-hand, staff and dagger skills to 90 by beating up some softies in the starting area. I know I won't be using many weapons with my Mage but thought it best to go ahead and level up those skills. I think I will be doing the same with my other characters as well to make sure I have all my leveled to the max. Tonight I may play some more. Hopefully the copper I've put on the auction house provides me with enough gold so I can buy a silver bar. I need it to make a ring for my mage.

Daily Journal - December 15, 2009

It's been about 3 months since my last blog entry. I've recently had to clear off my hard drive and reinstall WoW so I think I'm about ready to jump back into it all. Won't be today though, maybe tomorrow. I have downloaded all my addons as well. The lengthy and tedius part will be to fix all my bars again and put everything where I want them. After that's all done then I'll start leveling my Mage once again. I have to do first aid to 225 then level him to 20 so I can get my mount. Maybe I'll have some time to really get into things over the holiday weeks. I know my wife is interested in getting back to her characters as well.

Daily Journal - September 4, 2009

Name: Dotsmadafor
Class: Mage
Professions: Enchanter & Inscriptionist

I only worked sparingly last night as the booze was calling my name once again at the Inn in Old Town. I was slightly productive as I leveled my knowledge of first aid to 213. I am almost to my goal of 225. I also learned the art of making a mage weave bandage although it was very expensive (over 5 gold!). Now I need to obtain some mage weave cloth from the auction house. My friend Dotsmadathre has informed me that it is not cheap and that he would be willing to gather more copper for me to subsidize my purchase of mage weave cloth. I took him up on the offer so hopefully tonight he will be able to gather some copper once again. 'Thre is such a nice fellow. Of course, if he would like his supplies enchanted and scrolls stocked I suppose this is the least he can do. Good day to you.....

Daily Journal - September 3, 2009

Name: Dotsmadafor
Class: Mage
Profession: Enchanting, Inscription

Last night I convinced my friend Dotsmadathre to go gather stones for me to sell at the auction house. He was very successful, as I knew he would be, and gathered probably around 100 copper bars on my behalf. He mailed them off to our current trader, Dotsmadaeit, who put them up for auction for about 2 gold a stack. After a few stacks sold 'Eit bought me some more silk cloth so I could raise my first aid expertise. I am looking to increase my skill for first aid to 225, but unfortunately I ended up running out of silk cloth and only reached skill level 190 or so. I was very excited to learn the new bandage technique of heavy silk though. I will use this technique until I reach skill level 210. At that point (I believe) I should be able to learn how to make mage weave bandages. Tonight the rest of the copper bars should have sold so 'Eit should be able to purchase more silk cloth for me. For now I will rest until tomorrow night. Maybe I will get in a game of cards with some patrons at the Stormwind inn......

Daily Journal - September 2, 2009

Name: Dotsmadafor
Class: Mage
Professions: Enchanting, Inscription

I spent time last night relaxing on the beach of Lake Everstill in the town of Lakeshire catching catfish and frogs. I have honed my fishing skills and now I have earned the Artisan expertise. Once I reached this great achievement I went into the Lakeshire inn and had a merry time celebrating. I will sleep in tomorrow and possibly tomorrow night I will then work on becoming a artisan first aider. Of course, as I am a Mage, I really have no natural ability to heal myself except for making food. Eating just takes way too much time though. I am afraid that I will need more coin in my pockets though as after learning to become and Artisan Fisherman I have only 20 silver to my name. I would like to go to the auction house in Stormwind and purchase my materials to become an Artisan in First Aid, instead of going to kill humanoids. Mayhap I will check with my friend Dotsmadathre, who is a valiant Warrior, to see if he can make me money by collecting minerals. He is usually generous and happy to crack rocks on my behalf, so I see no problems there.

Until tomorrow......

Daily Blog - August 31, 2009

My Mage was able to get his cooking to 225 and fishing to 190 over the weekend. Spent only about 30 minutes fishing. I will be doing more of this tonight although it is really boring......

Meet Dotsmadafor, my Frost Mage.....

This is my Frost Mage. He's pretty entertaining to play as long as I don't run into multiple mobs. Here are his stats:
Level - 18
Strength - 22
Agility - 23
Stamina - 32
Intellect - 68
Spirit - 52
Armor - 281
Enchanting - 150
Incription - 150
Fishing - 157
Cooking - 161
First Aid - 150
As you can see, I've stacked all of his stats in Intellect and Spirit. He is number one in intellect out of all of my alts, but ranks as my least most powerful character. He is very important though as he enchants all my gear and creats scrolls for all my other players. I enjoy playing him.

Daily Blog - August 19, 2009

I was able to get my Warrior to Stromgard Keep without dying last night. I also picked up some flight points in the Wetlands and Refuge Point so it won't take as long to get back there again. I got some recipes for cooking fish at the Wetlands (can't remember the name of the city) so I could cook the mithril trout that I would be catching. Unfortunately I can't learn it until I reach skill level 175. That means I will need to raise my cookings skill 25 points while cooking more bristle whisker catfish first. I sure wish I hadn't trashed all the ones I caught on my journey to fishing skill level 150. Oh well. I went ahead and fished for about 20 minutes at Stromgard and caught a bunch of trout and some catfish. Went back to Goldshire and cooked the catfish, but it only got me to skill level 164. I will go to Redridge to catch more catfish so I can hopefully get up to 175. Right now cooking catfish is green so hopefully it stays green until I reach 175 because I'm not sure what else I can cook to raise my level. Once I do reach 175, I think I should have enough trout to get to 225. If not then I will just go back to Stromgrade.

After all that I hope I'm at 225 on my fishing skill level, but I highly doubt it. I'm only at about 172 right now. My fishing skill is currently outleveling my cooking skill, but that will change quickly once I reach 175 in cooking. I will just give my left over fish to my Mage. That will give him a headstart on leveling his fishing and cooking.

So that's probably what I will be doing tonight if I get to play.

Daily Blog - April 8, 2009

Sorry, I haven't blogged the last couple of days, I've been fighting a cold. I stayed home from work the last couple of days so I played a little WoW, but not too much. Just didn't feel like doing much. One thing I would like to mention before I talk about WoW is:

I HATE KOBE BRYANT

This guy is an arrogant pompous ass! Anything and everything he does is self-serving.

Had to get that off my chest. Anyway, over the past couple of days I finished working on my Mage. I upgraded my armor added enchants, created scrolls and elixirs and went out and leveled my Mage to 18 through the Lighthouse quests in Westfall and also some delivery/collection quests in Redridge. My Frost Mage is pretty easy to use in combat, but I did die a couple of times. When a couple of Murlocks my level or higher get a hold of me then I start having some trouble. Especially when they can use frost to stop me in my tracks as well.

After leveling my Mage to 18 I moved on to Dotsmadafiv, my Demonology Warlock. I upgraded my cooking to 150 pretty quick since I had a lot of fish caught from my other characters. I am currently working on leveling fishing to 150 and then will also work on First Aid. My Warlock is a tailor, but I have already increased that skill to 150.

Should play quite a bit this weekend and should have another blog entry on Monday. Go
Rockets!!!!

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Daily Blog - May 5, 2009

Played a little bit last night before the Rockets whupped up on the Lakers. Here's what I did:
  • My Mage created a Mytic Tome for his off-hand.
  • Looked at the auction house for a better cloak, but the one I had was good enough.
  • Looked at the auction house for shoulder armor, but the one I had was good enough.

That's it. Oh and the day before I put a lot of my extra herbs for sale and ended up getting almost 100 gold! That's the first time I've had that much money. Unfortunatley, now I'm buying more materials from the auction house again. Some of which I probably sold in the first place. Oh well.....

The next thing I want to do for my Mage is upgrade my chest armor and enchant with "Mana" and then also upgrade my bracers and enchant with "lesser intellect."

I may get to that tonight or I may watch some of the other basketball games. We'll see....

Daily Blog - May 4, 2009

Got a lot accomplished this weekend with my Mage. My Rogue continued leveling up herbalism and collected flowers for my Mage's inscription. I was planning on going to Stranglethorn Vale to get the necessary herbs but the mobs in that area were too high for my Rogue so I went to the Wetlands instead. Much easier. So I was able to level my inscription to 150. I was also able to level fishing and first aid to 150 as well. Now I'm going through the process of updating my gear for my Mage so I can start leveling to 18. I've gotten a new dagger and enchanted it to add + 2 dmg. I also just finished making some wizard oil to apply to my dagger. BTW, it really sucks how that doesn't stack. Why is that? Sharpening stones stack, why can't wizard's oil?

Next I'll be creating on off-hand item "mystic tome" and then looking for better armor.

I should be able to get some time in before the Rockets and Lakers game tonight.

PS - while I was in Stranglethorn Vale I did level my Rogue to 34.

Daily Blog - April 30, 2009

I raised my enchanting skill to 150 last night for my Mage. In the process of doing that, I also raised my Druid' leather working to 106 and my Warlock's tailoring to 149. It's really cheap to make items through those two professions and then disenchant them. Now I move on to raising my inscription profession to 150. Currently it's at 103. This looks like it's going to be the most expensive thing to do as I need a lot of flowers to make pigments. The flowers I need now are in areas that are too high of a level to go collect with any of my characters that currently have herbalism. That leaves me with going to the auction house. When I saw the prices to make lion's ink my jaw dropped. I think the lowest price I saw was 35s per flower, which would mean I would have to fork over at least 1g 75s just to make 1-2 of the necessary pigments. I'm hoping that once I finally do this and create a major glyph that I can sell it for some type of profit. I briefly viewed the prices of some of the glyphs on the auction house and did notice that they were going for pretty hefty prices. So maybe once I get started things will move along a little easier. I see the high prices, but I just wonder if they actually sell.....

The Rockets play tonight so I won't get much playing time in, but hopefully I can continue leveling my inscription towards 150.

Daily Blog - April 29, 2009

Turned in my Lighthouse quests for my Warrior and finally dinged level 18.

So then I moved on to my Mage who is currently level 16. My current goals for my mage:

1. Level enchanting to 150 (currently 131)
2. Level inscription to 150 (currently 101)
3. Level fishing to 150 (currently 1)
4. Level first aid to 150 (currently 79)
5. Update Mage's gear
6. Level Mage to 18

I actually worked on leveling my enchanting yesterday for a couple of hours. It sure is expensive! I went out to the auction house to buy items to disenchant which I suppose wasn't too expensive. I only bought low level items, all less than 30 silver. I also figured out I can make embossed leather gloves with my Druid which only cost 3 light leather and send it to my Mage to disenchant. This was much less expensive. I probably bought over 100 light leather from the auction house for only a few gold and made a crap load of these gloves and also leveled my leather working for my Druid in the process. This sounds like a pretty good money making strategy since the dusts go for pretty good money at the auction house and light leather is generally pretty cheap.

The only bad thing is that I will usually enchant vellums and try and sell them at the auction house. It doesn't seem like many people care for lower level enchants so I don't make any money off of them.

Hopefully I'll be able to finish leveling my enchanting this evening.
